Cardinals rookie DT Walter Nolen III closer to NFL debut after team opens practice window
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have opened the practice window for rookie defensive tackle Walter Nolen III as he works to return from a calf injury, giving him 21 days to be reinstated to the active roster.
The first-round pick started the season on the physically unable to perform list after getting hurt just before training camp began in July. The former Ole Miss star was the No. 16 overall selection in April.
Second-year defensive tackle Darius Robinson also returned to the practice field on Wednesday after missing the past two games with a pectoral injury. Tight end Travis Vokolek (neck) was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Cardinals (2-4) will try to snap a four-game losing streak when they host the Green Bay Packers (3-1-1) on Sunday.

Bears QB Caleb Williams made more history in win over Commanders
![](/<p><a href="https://bearswire.usatoday.com">Chicago Bears</a> quarterback Caleb Williams made history in the early stages of his second year with the team in Monday night's 25-24 win over the <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/washington-commanders/363" target="_blank">Washington Commanders</a>, which marked the team's third straight victory.</p><p>In Week 6's win over the Commanders, Williams completed just over 58% of his passes (17-of-29) but totaled 252 passing yards, one passing touchdown, one rushing score and no turnovers.</p><p>With his performance over the Commanders, Williams became the first quarterback in <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/chicago-bears/326" target="_blank">Bears</a> franchise history to throw for at least 200 yards and one touchdown in each of the team's first five games, per <a href="https://x.com/CourtneyRCronin/status/1978104054103302395">Courtney Cronin</a>.</p><p>Williams' best performance so far this season came against the Dallas Cowboys, when he threw for 298 yards, four touchdowns, and completed 67% of his passes, his highest completion percentage of the year, and set a career high with a 142.6 passer rating.</p><p>The development of Williams has gone hand-in-hand with the arrival of head coach Ben Johnson, but there is still plenty of room for growth.
