'Bombed from the sky': Nigerians decry another deadly airstrike on civilians
When vigilantes in northwestern Nigeria's Tungar Kara town prepared to go after an armed gang in a nearby forest last Saturday, residents cheered and prayed for their safe return. But before they set off on their mission, the town was bombed in an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), which it said targeted the armed gang but residents said killed 15 civilians - members of the vigilante group and other bystanders.

France urged to exonerate women convicted under old abortion laws
As France commemorates 50 years since the law decriminalising abortion came into effect, prominent figures in politics and the arts are urging the government to exonerate women convicted for abortions before 1975. “We, activists, researchers, elected officials, demand the rehabilitation of women unjustly convicted of abortion,” they wrote in a petition published on the Libération website.The law, first debated by MPs in 1974, was championed by health minister Simone Veil and adopted for a trial

Codelco, Saudi in talks on copper investment, 2025 output seen up
Chile's Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, is in talks with Saudi Arabia over potential joint investments in the metal, the company's chairman told Reuters in an interview on Friday. On Codelco's output, Chairman Maximo Pacheco said the company's own production for 2025 was expected to rise by about 70,000 metric tons to around 1.4 million tons. Pacheco said the state-owned company had been in discussions with Saudi Arabia as there was a clear need on both sides to add value.
